Newsblast #11: Christmasblast

I’ve been posting short newsletters to the Meetup group mailing list recently, and this blog has been a bit neglected. So I thought I should post them here too; people can find them more easily and read if they’re not a meetup member.

This is a bumper Newsblast, full of lovely festive news!

Games Forum London

This is 2 day games and games-business conference in London in January. A broad range of speakers, from developers, to journalists, to marketers and a cross-platform focus make it a promising new event.

We have been given 2 tickets to give away to members, so please get in touch with me (, or come along to one of the meetups to get your name in the draw. You can also get 10% off the regular ticket price using our discount code: LDNINDIES10.

Christmas Gamerbake

Gamerbake returns! You’re favourite game-themed charity cake sale is back for a Christmas edition on 14th December at Loading Bar Stratford.

XMas Marioke

Sing not only video-games themed songs, but wintery, Christmas time, video-games themed songs! Get in early if you want to put your name down. This special Marioke is £10 and happens 8th December at Loading Bar in Stoke Newington.

Starting on the 18th November (yes tomorrow!) and on the following 5 Saturdays, Urban Screen are offering a free intro to game development course for 16-25 year olds. The events are happening at Paddington Academy and if you want more information please email Kate Herron at or telephone 07703 312296.

PC Connects London

You may have heard of Pocket Gamer Connects, well the same organisers are now doing a PC focused event. This one is in London and runs on Jan 22nd and 23rd.

They are currently accepting submissions for speakers, volunteers, and the famous Big Indie Pitch where you can pitch your wacky game idea and get FEEDBACK and PRIZES if it’s a a good one!
